Prior School Enrollment - FAQs

What date should be used for the DNE?

The first day of the school year will always be the DNE date.

If a DNE line is deleted what should happen on the prior year enrollment record?

An appropriate WD code needs to be entered.  Enrollment drop code should be changed to W02 (In-District Transfer) or applicable drop code.

When are the two fields on the enrollment record used – District and School of enrollment – what happens if the fields are filled in?

These fields are only used if the student is attending BOTH districts - each part time; otherwise the fields should not be used.

Can you provide an example of rules for E02, E01, R01, R02, and R03.

E01: Student is returning to the same district attended the previous year.
E1A (adult ed)
E02: Student enrolls in district from another Florida county public school district.
R01: Student does credit recovery or other and the grade level increases as a result. The school must create a new enrollment for  the student with the new grade level. (most districts have one time of year when they promote...the district will make the decision)
R02: Student withdrew from a district school and enrolls in a different district school the same school year. Prior school should have a W02 withdrawal code.
R03: Student is withdrawn and unexpectedly comes back.
*E05: Entering PK or KG for the first time

When should a school run recalculate daily attendance?

At times, daily attendance may need to be recalculated due to changes to rotation days, dates on the school calendar, attendance codes, etc. If a scheduled school day is cancelled, such as for a Hurricane or any other changes are made to the student calendar during the school year.

Recalculate Daily Attendance is related to the calendar on the enrollment record - if it is set wrong the daily code will not work. If a user changes the enrolled school from the enrollment screen and not add/drop a student the student will have the wrong calendar and therefore incorrect attendance.

When will home school enrollment records be transmitted for state reporting?

Home school doesn’t get reported because the districts do not get FTE for homeschool N998.  Students with a current enrollment in school N998 and N999 should be reported if they are enrolled in any course in the district. A separate record must be submitted for each school of enrollment and each entry/re entry date. Also, in survey 4 if they completed any Virtual courses.

If the student is migrant and attending school, where are they enrolled?

The student is enrolled to a school within the district. The Fed State Tab has several Migrant fields that need to be filled out for State Reporting (Migrant MSIX ID Number, QAD, Migrant Status Term)

Who is enrolled in 3518?

What school are the public McKay students enrolled at? What is the educhoice value on the enrollment record?

The McKay Scholarship Program offers parents public school choice to selected accommodating schools within the district. On the student’s current Enrollment record, the Educhoice field will need to be set to “M” for McKay Scholarship.

Are public McKay students enrolled in 3518? If not, how are they on the prior school format?

Students that are going to private McKay schools are enrolled into 3518 and scheduled into one course with course number 2222222. Students can also opt for public McKay which allows them to choose a public school in the district to attend instead of private school outside the district. If they are a public McKay the edu choice on the enrollment record needs to be M.

How does Focus determine a student’s w/d date for state reporting purposes?
