FOCUS-45717- Edit Rules & Workflow: Improve Handling of Special Characters in Title

This update improves the behavior of the Edit Rules & Workflow feature when using a "<" symbol in the title. Previously, the system would remove the symbol and any text following it, mistaking it for a tag. With this update, the "<" symbol and its following text will be retained, while still removing unwanted <br> tags from the title, ensuring better title formatting without stripping out necessary characters.

FOCUS-45716- Seating Charts: Respect Defined Sort Order

This branch resolves an issue in Teacher Seating Charts where, if multiple seating charts were created for the same period, the system would default to the most recently added chart instead of respecting the assigned sort order. The branch corrects the query to ensure that seating charts now follow the proper sort order as intended.

FOCUS-45677- Student Groups: Improve Dynamic Student Groups Created by Teachers

This update resolves an issue in the Teacher Student Groups functionality, where teachers were unable to successfully create and use dynamic student groups in the search feature. Previously, groups would appear to save but would not include the intended search results, leading to the creation of empty groups. With this update, dynamic student groups will now be saved correctly, including all applicable search results, ensuring they function as expected.

This update resolves an issue in the Scheduling module where Planning Periods were not displaying as expected in the Teacher Schedules report. With this update, Planning Periods will now appear correctly.

FOCUS-45654- Graduation Req. Report: Update Biliteracy Logic for PM3 FAST Records (FL)

This update resolves an issue in the Graduation Requirements Report for customers in Florida. Previously, students were incorrectly marked as meeting the Biliteracy Seal 'Meets FSA/FAST ELA Requirement (4 or higher)' with PM2 scores. The update ensures that only PM3 assessments are considered for this requirement, correcting the inaccurate report data.

FOCUS-45652- Kiosk: Change SMS and Push Notifications to Custodial Contacts Only

This update improves the Communications Platform's Call Out System. Previously, when the kiosk sent SMS messages, both attendance notifications and supplementary threshold alerts were sent to all student contacts, rather than just primary contacts. With this branch, SMS notifications are now properly limited to the student's primary contacts, ensuring messages reach only the designated recipients.

FOCUS-45632- Focus Assessments: Limit Teachers to Assign Assessment to Students in Scheduled Sections

This branch enhances the Focus Assessments module by improving how district assessments are assigned. Before the update, teachers could see all students in the selected course across the entire school. With this update, the list of students is restricted to only those in the teacher's class. However, admin users will still have access to view students from the entire school or selected schools, maintaining their broader oversight.

See District Assessments > Assigning an Assessment to Students (teacher) for more information.

FOCUS-45629- Mobile App: Larger Dates when Scheduling Messages

This update improves the Communication Platform when used in the Community Mobile App. The layout for selecting dates when scheduling messages has been adjusted, spreading the dates out to fill more white space, making it easier for users to select a date. This change enhances the user experience by improving the overall interface for date selection.

FOCUS-45602- Grade Change Request: Require Both Reason Code and Explanation

This update enhances the validation process for submitting grade change requests. Previously, it was possible to save a request even if either the Reason Code or Explanation field was left empty. With this change, stricter validation will be enforced, requiring both the Reason Code and Explanation fields to be filled with valid input before a grade change request can be saved. This ensures that both pieces of required information are consistently provided for final grade changes.

FOCUS-45599- Communication Platform: Sort Communication Report Chronologically in Student Info/User Info

This update improves the Communication Platform by addressing an issue with message order on individual communication reports. Previously, messages could appear out of chronological order. With this branch, messages are now consistently ordered by the sent time in descending order, ensuring they display in the correct sequence for easier review.

FOCUS-45593- Communication Report: Populate Fields for Message Previews Regarding a Student with Multiple Recipients

This update enhances the Communication Platform by improving the handling of inserted fields in messages sent to multiple recipients. Previously, when sending messages with inserted fields for one student to several recipients, such as custodial contacts or groups like students and primary contacts, the report would display the field titles instead of their values. With this branch, the inserted fields will now correctly populate with the appropriate data in the communication report, ensuring clarity for all recipients.

FOCUS-45582- System Preferences: Improve Deletion of SSO Profiles with SSO Session Data

This update resolves an issue in System Preferences related to Single Sign On (SSO) profile deletion. Previously, attempting to delete an SSO profile that had associated SSO sessions would result in an error due to a foreign key constraint on the SSO session table. This would cause the system to display a white screen. With this branch, both the SSO profile and associated SSO session records will be properly deleted, preventing the error and ensuring smooth deletion of SSO profiles.

FOCUS-45571- Ed-Fi API: Ignore Deleted Addresses in StudentEducationOrganizationAssociation

This update improves the Ed-Fi API by resolving an issue where deleted records in the students_join_address table were not being properly excluded. This caused incorrect data to be included for students in the StudentEducationOrganizationAssociation. With the branch, the system now correctly checks the "deleted" column, ensuring that only active records are included in the association, enhancing data accuracy and synchronization with the Ed-Fi standard.

FOCUS-45568- Communication Report: Display Correct School Title for Students with Multiple Enrollments

This update corrects an issue in the individual student communication report. Previously, if a school or district message was sent while a student was enrolled at a previous school and the student has since transferred to a new school, the newer school would incorrectly appear as the school in the report. With the branch, the report now reflects the correct school based on the student's enrollment records at the time the message was sent, ensuring accurate historical tracking.

FOCUS-45563- New Search: Resolve Grade Level in Saved Searches

This update resolves an issue in Saved Searches where the Gradelevel criteria were not being properly respected when switching schools. With this branch, saved searches that include Gradelevel criteria will now correctly apply the search criteria even after the user switches between schools. This ensures consistent search functionality and accurate filtering based on grade level across different schools within the system.

FOCUS-45559- Signature Fields: Render Correct Date When Signature Date Stored as Unix Timestamp

This branch resolves an issue where the signature fields displayed an incorrect date of '12/31/1969' when printing due to invalid Unix timestamp formatting. The problem arose from some signature dates being stored as millisecond Unix Timestamps, while the rendering method expected a string format. The branch updates the signature rendering process to accommodate both millisecond timestamps and string-formatted dates, ensuring that signature dates print correctly. Existing signatures stored as strings will remain unaffected by this change.

FOCUS-45550- Online Application: Incorrect Form Selected as Default

This branch resolves an issue where the default Online Application for parents was not always selected as intended when initiating a new application for a student. Now, the system correctly sets the default application in all cases when a parent begins filling out a new Online Application.

FOCUS-45539- Scheduling: New System Preferences to Limit Section Numbers

This enhancement introduces two new system preferences under the Scheduling tab: "Limit Section Numbers to x digits" and "Limit Section Numbers to Alphanumeric." By default, the section number is set to a 25-character limit, but users can adjust this through the interface. If a lower limit is specified, it will be enforced in both Courses & Sections and the Master Schedule Report. Additionally, if the Alphanumeric preference is enabled, section numbers will be restricted to alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9).

See System Preferences > Scheduling for more information.

FOCUS-45529- Student Info: Performance Improvement to Validations

This update includes a performance improvement to the Edit Rules & Workflow Validations, specifically enhancing the speed and efficiency when these validations are applied within the Student Info module. This change is aimed at improving the overall responsiveness when performing operations that rely on Edit Rules and Workflow, benefiting end users with faster processing times.

FOCUS-45528- Graduation Req. Report: Resolve ROTC Waivers (Florida)

This branch resolves an issue in the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida customers related to the PE requirement. Previously, the short name was incorrectly prioritized over the original short name, which caused confusion in districts where personal fitness was labeled with variations like "PE_XX." With this update, the system will correctly prioritize the original short name, ensuring accurate tracking of the PE requirement across districts.

FOCUS-45523- Portal: Resolve Logout with SSO

This branch resolves an issue where users were being automatically logged out of Focus when navigating to the portal screen. This occurred in certain instances when specific Single Sign-On (SSO) provider types were in use. The update ensures users remain logged in while navigating, improving user experience and preventing unexpected logouts due to SSO configurations.

FOCUS-45515- Third Party Systems: Ensure Co-Teachers Extract in OneRoster API

This update ensures that Co-Teacher information is accurately pulled into the necessary resources when using the OneRoster dialect of the API within Third Party Systems. This improvement ensures better data integration and consistency across platforms that leverage the OneRoster standard, providing accurate and seamless access to Co-Teacher details in the appropriate resources.

FOCUS-45514- Gradebook: Resolve Grade Formatting when Exporting

This branch resolves an issue in the Teacher Gradebook where exporting or printing immediately after updating or inserting a grade caused formatting issues. Specifically, a hyphen was being incorrectly added between the percent and letter grade in the print preview. With this branch, the format is corrected, ensuring that grades appear as intended when exported or printed.

FOCUS-45490- Communication Platform: Ensure Emergency Call Indicator Displays in Communication Report

This update enhances the Communication Platform's Communication Report by correcting an issue with recorded emergency calls. Previously, if a call was sent with the emergency option selected, the "Emergency" column in the report would not display as checked. With this branch, the report will now accurately reflect the emergency status for such calls, providing clearer visibility in the communication logs.

FOCUS-45489- Communication Platform: Ensure Active Enrollment When Messaging Teachers of a Student

This update improves the Communication Platform by enhancing the "Teachers Of" recipient generation logic. Previously, messages could be sent to teachers of a school where the student no longer had an active enrollment but still had scheduled records. With this branch, the system will ensure that messages are only sent to teachers of the school where the student is actively enrolled, preventing communication errors involving past or ended enrollment records.

FOCUS-45481- Post Final Grades: Ensure Max Posted Percent Restrictions do not Impact Semester Exam Posting

This update introduces a distinction in system preferences for posted grade percentages. The "Max Posted Percent" setting, which applies when all marking periods are selected, will no longer affect the posting of semester exams. Instead, the system preference, called "Maximum Semester Exam Grade," is available specifically to set a cap for semester exam grades. This update ensures that these two grading areas are treated independently, offering more flexibility in grade management.

FOCUS-45470- Parent Portal: Resolve Automated Parent Portal Email Content

This branch resolves an issue with the Parent Portal email notifications. Previously, emails sent for grade changes or missing assignments were missing the expected content and only contained a link to log into Focus. This update ensures that the email notifications, which are configured under the Parent Portal Preferences > Notifications tab, now include the relevant information as expected.

FOCUS-45454- Imports Enhancement: Template Management

This branch introduces several workflow improvements and refinements to the Imports module: Enhancements include:

  • Unique keys to distinguish templates by district, title, and tool.
  • Proprietary Focus templates that cannot be edited, with the ability to copy settings for custom use.
  • An overwrite confirmation modal and streamlined fixed-width template functionality.

Additional refinements include improvements in template selection after saving, ensuring titles are required, and resolving template display issues in multi-tenant sites. These changes improve template management and user experience within the module.

FOCUS-45453- Scheduling: Include Allow Repeat Requests Setting on Courses/Master Schedule Report

This update ensures that the "Allow Repeat Requests" setting is now available at the Course level within both the Courses and Sections screen and the Master Schedule Report. Previously, this setting could only be applied at the Course Catalog level. This enhancement provides users with more flexibility by allowing them to manage repeat requests directly within individual course configurations across the system, streamlining course scheduling processes.

FOCUS-45448- My Preferences: Add New 'Use 24 Hour Clock Format' Setting & Shortcut

This update adds a new "My Preference" setting called "Use 24 Hour Clock Format," allowing users to enter time in military format in Custom Fields. The setting is available by default in "My Preferences," but not enabled. Customers can remove the setting by selecting "Disallow" under System Preferences, Default User Preferences. Additionally, a new keyboard shortcut is introduced, enabling users to auto-populate the current time in a date field by pressing the 'n' key.

See System Preferences > Default User Preferences > Display Options, My Preferences, and Preferences (Teachers) for details.

FOCUS-45445- Grade Change Requests: Enforce Reason Code & Explanation when Applicable

This update corrects an issue where grade change requests could be submitted without a Reason Code, even though system preferences were set to require both a Reason Code and an Explanation. The expected behavior is now enforced: the system will prevent saving a grade change request if either the Reason Code or Explanation is missing, ensuring that both fields are properly filled out before the request can be submitted, regardless of the order in which they are entered.

FOCUS-45439- Mass Add Log Entries: Resolve School Year Population when using Group Tab

This update resolves an issue on the Mass Add Log Records page when using the Group tab to add logging field data for a student. Previously, if the logging field included a School Year column, it would not populate, leaving the column blank while other data was successfully populated. With this branch, the School Year column is correctly populated alongside the other data.

FOCUS-45438- Upload Test Score Reports to Student/Parent Portal: Introduce Support for College Board Score Reports

This update enhances the functionality for uploading test score reports to the Student/Parent Portal, now allowing support for College Board Score Reports. A new case-sensitive folder, test_score_reports/College_Board, has been introduced for organizing these reports. Additionally, a new file naming convention is required: `{STUDENT_ID}_{TERM}_{YEAR_RANGE}_{TEST_NAME}.pdf`. This enhancement streamlines the process for uploading and accessing standardized test score reports within the portal.

See Publishing Test Scores and Reports to the Student/Parent Portal for more information.

FOCUS-45431- Communication Platform: Improve Handing of Action Record Log field and Action Record Log field columns within same Template when Printing

This update enhances the behavior of the Communication Platform by allowing both the action log and individual fields from the log to appear simultaneously in messages. Previously, only the action log would display when both were included. After the update, both elements will print together in communication, print letters, and emails in letterhead templates. For Advanced Reports, the individual fields and action log will continue to appear once, with individual fields prioritized on the left side.

FOCUS-45429- Print Letters & Send Emails: Improve Handling of JSON School Fields in Body

This branch resolves an issue in Print Letters and Send Emails where Insert Fields containing JSON custom field types were not displaying properly. With this update, letters and emails will correctly display the content of custom JSON fields as expected.

FOCUS-45426- Discipline Referrals: Respect "Enable Search Entire School for Teachers" Preference

This branch resolves an issue where, on the Discipline Category Breakdown screen, teachers were able to see students outside their assignment when clicking to view the list of referrals. The issue occurred even if the system preference "Enable search entire school for teachers" was not selected. With this update, the list of referrals will only display students assigned to the teacher as intended, respecting the system preference settings.

FOCUS-45417- Graduation Req. Report: Ensure Values from Custom Fields indicated as "Visible on Student Grades" Display in Overview

This branch corrects an issue in the Graduation Requirements Report overview, where certain custom fields marked as "Visible on Student Grades" were not populating data as expected. With this update, all applicable custom fields will display the correct information, ensuring a more complete and accurate overview of student progress on the report.

FOCUS-45413- Kiosk: Change Launch Screen Permission Check

This update addresses a discrepancy between the kiosk and desktop versions in how a user's selected school is handled. Previously, the kiosk did not allow users to change schools and relied on permissions for the school selected in the top right of the desktop version, causing issues. With this branch, the kiosk will check permissions for all schools the user is permitted in, displaying options accordingly. When the user attempts an action, a second check will verify the correct permissions for the selected school.

FOCUS-45403- School Choice: Add Lottery Run By/Date Columns to School Choice Report

This update introduces two new columns, "Lottery Run By" and "Lottery Run Date," to the School Choice Reports and Magnet/Special Assignment pages. These columns will automatically populate after the School Choice Lottery runs and a student has been placed, providing transparency on who ran the lottery and when it occurred.

See School Choice Reports and Magnet/Special Assignment for more information.

The branch ensures that recorded messages on the Call tab can be successfully sent without error. Additionally, this update corrects an issue where the time remaining displayed incorrectly for records in the database, ensuring accurate time calculations.

FOCUS-45354- School Choice: New Birthdate and Letter Date Issued Elements on School Choice Report

This branch enhances the School Choice report by adding two new elements: the student's birthdate and the Letter Date. The student's birthdate is now available within the report, and the Letter Date will pull its content from the "letter_date" field in the school_choice_application_status table. These updates provide additional data for administrators when reviewing School Choice applications.

See School Choice Reports for more information.

FOCUS-45352- School Choice: Add School's Zone Value on Capacity Reports

This enhancement adds a new "School's Zone" column to the three Capacity Reports located under School Choice Setup. The value displayed in this column will be sourced from the Program's designated Zone Group, providing greater clarity on the zoning assignments related to school capacity.

See School Choice Setup > Setting Up Program Capacity for more information.

FOCUS-45351- Master Schedule Report: Highlight Courses Attached to Inactive Courses in Catalog

This improvement to the Master Schedule Report introduces a visual enhancement by highlighting in red any courses that are associated with courses marked as inactive through the Course Catalog. This makes it easier for users to quickly identify and address any instances where inactive courses are still linked to active sections.

See Master Schedule Report >  Viewing the Courses Tab for more information.

FOCUS-45347- Online Enrollments: No Longer Require Student Username to View Record in Unprocessed Applications

With this update, student usernames are no longer required to view unprocessed applications through the Online Enrollments report. This change simplifies the review process for unprocessed applications, allowing users to access relevant records without needing student username details.

FOCUS-45345- Community Mobile App: Resolve Grade Display for Parents with Multiple Children

This update resolves an issue in the Community Mobile App where parents were unable to view their child's assignment grades if they had multiple children. The problem was caused by the system using the wrong school ID when verifying grade permissions, defaulting to the first listed school in the app. With this fix, the correct school ID is passed, ensuring that parents can view assignment grades for all their children as expected.

This update resolves an issue with the Student Audit Trail on the Contacts report, where an error would previously appear when accessing the report. With this fix, the report now generates correctly without errors.

FOCUS-45335- Scheduling: Improve Inclusion Minutes Calculation (Florida)

This update corrects an issue with Inclusion Minutes for Florida customers. Previously, when the "Automatically update schedule class minutes" system preference was enabled and an inclusion section was inactive or dropped, the Class Minutes Weekly for another section of the same course and period could erroneously include minutes from the inactive course. After this update, Class Minutes Weekly will no longer be incorrectly updated to include minutes from an inactive course in the same period.

FOCUS-45330- Scheduled Jobs: Learnfare Log Records & Sent History (FL)

This update enhances the Learnfare scheduled job for Florida customers by adding functionality to log students into the new Learnfare History Log Record, which is part of the required State Reporting update. Additionally, the scheduled job will now generate an output table showing the students who were included in the execution, providing clearer tracking and reporting for this process.

See Scheduled Jobs > Florida Scheduled Jobs and LearnFare Attendance for more information.

FOCUS-45319- Communication Platform: Detect Call Windows Spanning Midnight

This branch improves the Communication Platform by adjusting the logic for call window system preferences. If the maximum time is set to a value earlier than the minimum time, the system will treat the window as extending past midnight into the next day. For example, if the minimum time is 8:00 AM and the maximum time is 1:00 AM, calls will be allowed anytime between 8:00 AM and 1:00 AM the next day. Calls will not be sent between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

See System Preferences > Default School Preferences > General for more details.

FOCUS-45316- Advanced Reports: Lock First Column if Student's Name in Large Datasets

This update enhances Advanced Reports by locking the student's name in the first column while scrolling through the report, improving readability. This functionality only applies if there are 11 or more columns in the report, ensuring that names remain visible when navigating through large datasets.

See Advanced Report (Students) and Advanced Report (Users) for more information.

FOCUS-45310- Scheduling: Improved ESE Students Determination in Elementary Scheduler

This update improves the identification of active ESE students in the Elementary Scheduler for Florida customers. Now, students will no longer be listed as active in the ESE column if the dismissal date has passed in the ESE Exceptionalities record. This ensures more accurate representation of ESE students within the scheduler.

FOCUS-45309- Communication Platform: Prevent Duplicate Letter Log Entries when Copy Self Leveraged

This update improves the functionality of the Communication Platform. Previously, if both "Copy Self" and "Add Log Record" options were selected when sending a message, two records would be created in the student's letter logging field. With this update, only one log record is created, streamlining the logging process.

FOCUS-45305- Portal: Resolve Error with Calendar Events when Student ID Changed

This update resolves a critical error on the Portal page that occurs when a Calendar event includes a participant whose Student ID has changed. Additionally, it updates records in `calendar_event_participants` when the `SISStudent->updateStudentId` function is executed. This ensures smooth operation and accurate participant information in calendar events.

FOCUS-45078- New Translations: Performance Improvements

This update optimizes the performance of translations on the Parent Portal by caching translation records for 't.js.php' files. This update resolves an issue within the Teacher Portal when completing a Discipline referral. Previously, if the system preference "Teachers Discipline Referral View" was set to "All referrals entered by any user" and "Enabled search entire school for teachers" was unselected, a teacher entering a referral for a student not scheduled in their class would not see the student's name in the session. This ensures more accurate attendance records.

FOCUS-44953- Scheduling: Prioritize Attendance Calendar Bell Schedule if none set on Section

This update modifies the Bell Schedule requirement in the Scheduling section. Previously, if a Bell Schedule was not set on a section, it would use the school's default Bell Schedule. With the branch, it will now first check the applicable Attendance Calendar for a Bell Schedule, and if none is found, it will then leverage the school's default Bell Schedule as before. This change provides greater flexibility by prioritizing the calendar-specific Bell Schedule before defaulting to the overall school schedule.

This update resolves an issue with the Re-Enrollment form when the system preference to restrict parents to editing only their own information is enabled. Previously, parents were still able to edit other contacts despite this restriction. Now, when the preference "Enable Restrict Parents/Guardians to editing their own Contact and Address info and Non-Custodial Contact info" is active, only the parent's own contact details can be edited, and their name must match a student's contact to have access.

With this update, the report now loads correctly, respecting the user's group limitations without causing any errors.

FOCUS-44423- Profile Permissions: New Login As User Permissions by User Type

This update enhances profile permissions related to the "Login As User" functionality. This update adds a new "Default Communication Settings" tab under System Preferences > Default User Preferences (previously labeled "Email Notifications").
