This update refines the visual display of the "Do Not Schedule" column in the Student Schedule, Unscheduled Courses. With this update, the red X has been removed for unmarked requests, and only a green check will display for requests explicitly marked as "Do Not Schedule," improving clarity for users reviewing unscheduled courses.

FOCUS-48935- Graduation Req. Report: Fine Arts Discipline Tracking | Phase 1 (Florida)

This update implements Phase 1 of the Fine Arts discipline tracking enhancements in alignment with updated guidance from the Florida Department of Education regarding the Florida Seal of Fine Arts. Two schema changes have been introduced to support district-level flexibility:

  • A new system Student Field, Fine Arts Discipline Track, allows districts to identify each student's selected discipline (Dance, Theatre, Music, or Visual Arts).
  • A new Fine Arts Disc field in the Course Catalog enables select-multiple tagging of courses by discipline, allowing districts to define which courses qualify for each track.

These foundational changes provide the structure needed for future validation logic while ensuring districts retain control over course-to-discipline mapping.

See Graduation Requirements Report and Course Catalog for more information.

This update adjusts the page title in the Teacher Portal to display "Grade Verification Sheets," ensuring consistency with the corresponding menu option and improving clarity for end-users.

FOCUS-48876- Add a Student: Student ID field not showing

FOCUS-48871- Communication: Exclude Inactive Inclusion Teachers from Compose for Students and Parents

This update improves the Communication Platform by ensuring inclusion teachers only appear as messaging recipients when the student is actively scheduled into their section. Previously, inclusion teachers with an end-dated schedule still appeared in the Compose screen. With this change, only active section associations will be considered, ensuring accurate teacher visibility.

FOCUS-48861- XLS Exporter: Fix to Preserve Space Characters in XML Export

This update resolves a formatting issue in Advanced Reports where space characters encoded as were being stripped when exporting to XML. With this fix, these encoded spaces are now correctly preserved by converting them to standard space characters before HTML entity cleanup, ensuring accurate formatting in the exported XML.

FOCUS-48838- Portal Editor: Resolve Adding Graphs and Custom HTML Blocks

This update resolves an issue in Portal Editor that prevented end-users from adding new graphs or custom HTML blocks. The problem was introduced with a recent jQuery upgrade and is now corrected, restoring expected functionality when editing custom portal content.

FOCUS-48830- Document Management: Student Grade Level Display Improvement on Published Reports

This update improves the Document Management module by ensuring the grade level displayed on published report cards and transcripts reflects only the student's grade level for the year selected in the top-right dropdown. Previously, all grade levels selected during publishing were shown, regardless of the student's actual enrollment for that year.

See Uploaded Files for more information.

FOCUS-48815- Advanced Report: Removed Redundant Save Report Button in Advanced Reports

This update removes the duplicate Save Report button from the footer of both Student and User Advanced Report screens. The Save Report functionality remains available at the top of the screen, streamlining the interface and reducing confusion.

When the "Show Staff ID instead of name" checkbox is selected, the scheduler will display the corresponding Staff ID for each teacher.

See Elementary Scheduler for more information.

FOCUS-48810- Translations: Unable to Determine Default Language if Multiple Languages Share Code

This update resolves an issue in the Communication Platform where the system could not determine the default language if multiple entries shared the same ISO code in the Languages tab. Specifically, if the default language flag was set on a record that did not have the lowest ID for that code, translations would fail to apply. This impacted functionality such as automatic message flagging based on flagged_words. With this fix, the default language is now correctly recognized regardless of record ID.

FOCUS-48801- Test History Report: Resolve "Any Part" Filter

This update resolves an issue in the Test History Report where the "Any Part" filter was not displaying or functioning correctly. The report now correctly displays the "All Parts" filter when 50 or more parts exist for a test, ensuring users can filter results as expected in large assessments.

FOCUS-48790- Communication Platform: Student Able to Message Previous Enrollments Teacher if Still Scheduled

This update enhances the messaging validation logic in the Communication Platform. Students must now have both an active enrollment and an active schedule with a teacher to continue messaging that teacher. This ensures that only students with valid, current enrollments can initiate communication based on scheduling data.

See Communication > Did You Know? for more information.

FOCUS-48789- Graduation Req. Report: Scholar Designation Chemistry/Physics Logic Updated (FL)

This update enhances the Scholar Designation logic in the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida customers. The course Pre-AP Chemistry (Course #2003365), which is listed in the Florida Course Code Directory as an Equally Rigorous (EQ) science course, is now included in the "Earned 1 Credit in Chemistry/Physics" requirement. This correction ensures alignment with FLDOE guidelines and resolves an issue where the course was previously excluded from fulfilling the requirement.

See Graduation Requirements Report > Scholar Designation for more information.

FOCUS-48784- Graduation Req. Report: Biliteracy Seal Update for Russian Course 07153% Recognition (Florida)

This update enhances the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida districts by improving how Russian courses are evaluated for the Biliteracy Seal designation. Courses with shortnames beginning with 07153 are now correctly recognized as qualifying Russian language courses, ensuring accurate credit toward the seal.

FOCUS-48756- Graduation Req. Report: Improved JROTC Waiver Handling (FL)

This update resolves an issue in the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida customers where the display of PE, PF, and PA subjects was unclear when all three JROTC waiver courses were present. With this fix, and when the grading system preference "Select All Possible Personal Fitness Graduation Subjects" is enabled, the report will now properly reflect the Personal Fitness waiver when a grade exists for course 1500480 (JROTC waiver).

FOCUS-48744- Online Enrollments: Filter Inactive Schools from Online Enrollment Totals

This update improves the accuracy of the Totals tab on the Online Enrollments page by ensuring only schools active for the current school year are included. Previously, schools outside their defined min/max year ranges were shown. With this change, the system now checks school year applicability and filters out inactive schools, ensuring enrollment data reflects only currently active institutions.

FOCUS-48739- Transcripts: New Font Style Option for Course Table

This update adds a new visual customization option to the Transcripts screen. A new setting, "Course Table Font Style," has been added to the bottom of the Transcript settings. Users can now choose between "Serif" (default) and "Sans-Serif" font styles to better match custom letterhead templates that specify fonts. This enhancement provides greater visual consistency and flexibility in transcript formatting.

See Transcripts for more information.

FOCUS-48731- Student Schedule: Resolve Visibility Based on Future Enrollment Permissions

This update resolves an issue affecting visibility and edit access in the new Schedule. Previously, the system only granted edit permissions if a user's school enrollment had no end date. With this update, users with a future-dated end date on their enrollment will now be correctly recognized as having permission, allowing them to view and interact with the new Schedule as expected.

FOCUS-48721- Communication Reports: Performance Improvements

The Communication Report has been optimized for significantly faster performance. These enhancements improve the loading speed for both individual student reports and the main report, particularly for administrators using the "View All Users" option. In addition to these performance improvements, the update also includes a fix to ensure that messages from the Cron user are no longer displayed by default. Messages from the Cron user will now only appear if that user is explicitly selected in the User dropdown or if the "View All Users" box is checked. These updates provide a more efficient and accurate reporting experience across the platform.

FOCUS-48718- Online Application: Resolve Computed Field Error

This update resolves an issue in the Online Application module where forms containing specific computed fields could produce a white screen or error when accessed in a re-enrollment context. With this fix, the application form now loads as expected without error, ensuring a smoother experience for end-users.

FOCUS-48717- Discipline Referrals: Improve Length of Action Recalculation when Changing Date Begins

This update improves the accuracy of the "Length of Action" calculation in Referral Actions. Previously, the value would only update when the end date was changed. With this enhancement, the Length of Action is now recalculated whenever either the begin or end date is modified, ensuring the action length reflects the correct number of school days between the two dates.

FOCUS-48715- Hall Pass: New Location Icons Added in Hall Pass Setup

This enhancement to the Hall Pass add-on module introduces a wider selection of icons that can be used when setting up location categories. The new icons provide more flexibility and visual clarity for defining Hall Pass locations. They are available within Setup > Hall Pass Setup > Location Category > Icon, alongside the existing icon options.

See Hall Pass Setup > Setting Up Location Categories for more information.

Hall Pass Setup

FOCUS-48706- Attendance Chart: Preserve Selected Period

This update resolves an issue where the Attendance Chart defaulted to "Daily" even when a specific period was selected. It also ensures that the selected period belongs to the current school; if not, the view correctly defaults to "Daily."

FOCUS-48696- Scheduling: Display Subject Name with Course Title in Mass Requests

This enhancement to the Mass Requests feature in the Scheduling module updates the course display to include the Subject name alongside the Course title when two courses with the same title exist under different Subjects. This helps school administrators easily identify the correct course request to select and aligns the display with how courses are shown on the Student Requests screen.

See Mass Requests > Did you know? for more information.

FOCUS-48690- Improved Debugging & Maximum Wait Validation for Portal Alert Queries

This update enhances the debugging and validation of Portal Alert queries by introducing execution time tracking and error reporting. If the combined execution time of all queries exceeds 10 seconds, a clear warning message is displayed to the user. Additionally, the Execution Time is now shown in the info tooltip. These improvements ensure faster identification of inefficient or problematic queries when configuring Portal Alerts.

FOCUS-48684- Portal: Resolve Student Photo Session Checking User Info Permissions

This update resolves an issue where clicking the student photo link failed to navigate users back to the Student Info demographic page if their profile did not have access to User Info. With this improvement, the photo link now functions correctly regardless of User Info access, allowing users to return to the student's demographic homepage as expected.

FOCUS-48670- Graduation Req. Report: Biliteracy Seal Logic Updated to Include SFTP Provisional Scores (FL)

This update enhances the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida customers by expanding the Biliteracy Seal logic to include the FSTP test. The FSTP provisional score is now recognized as an eligible assessment for meeting the Seal of Biliteracy criteria. This ensures accurate consideration of all relevant test data when evaluating student eligibility.

FOCUS-48667- Add a Student: Gender Now Appears on All Relevant Pages in Add a Student

This update resolves an issue in the Add a Student workflow where the Gender field--when flagged as Required and New Student--would only display on the first page and not on the third. With this fix, the Gender field will now consistently appear on both page 1 and page 3, ensuring proper data entry and validation across the form.

FOCUS-48666- Attendance Chart: Resolve Incorrect Minute Totals with Early Dismissal Codes

This update resolves an issue in the Attendance Chart where enabling the "Show Minutes Present/Absent" option would display incorrect totals when an early dismissal code was used. The system was previously double-counting minutes, leading to inaccurate attendance summaries. With this fix, present and absent minute totals are now calculated correctly.

FOCUS-48659- Graduation Req. Report: Resolve Fine Arts Designation Logic to Validate Year-Long Courses Only (FL)

This update corrects an issue in the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida customers related to the Fine Arts Designation. Previously, students enrolled in full-year Fine Arts courses who had only completed one semester were incorrectly marked as "in progress" toward the requirement of three year-long courses with A grades or higher. The system was mistakenly treating each semester as a separate course. With this fix, only full-year courses are evaluated for the designation, ensuring accurate tracking and display of student progress.

FOCUS-48658- Hall Pass: Take Period into Account When Auto-Ending Pass

This update refines how Hall Passes are auto-ended when attendance is taken. Previously, if attendance was recorded for a period prior to the Hall Pass's associated class, the active pass would be incorrectly canceled. With this fix, passes will no longer auto-end based on attendance taken for earlier periods, ensuring passes remain active as intended.

See Hall Passes Setup > Hall Pass System Preferences and System Preferences > General tab for more information.

FOCUS-48657- Discipline: Improved Decimal Handling for Length of Action in Referral Actions

This update improves how the Length of Action is calculated when a decimal value is entered in Referral Actions. Previously, decimal values like 1.5 would round down, resulting in the Begin and End Dates being the same. With this fix, the system now calculates the End Date based on the full decimal value--ensuring, for example, that a Length of Action of 1.5 sets the End Date to the following day. This ensures more accurate reflection of multi-day actions when partial days are entered.

FOCUS-48647- School Choice: Better Handling of 'Choice' Inputs in Application

This update improves the School Choice Application experience for parents. Previously, when a parent attempted to remove a program selection, the system would automatically apply the choice to the next available program, preventing full removal. With this update, that automatic reassignment behavior has been removed, allowing parents to successfully remove a program choice without it being reassigned.

FOCUS-48637- Student Schedule: Alternate Course Info/Links Added to Unscheduled Requests

This update improves the new Student Schedule by enhancing the visibility and usability of alternate course requests. If a primary request is unfulfilled, the associated alternate course titles are now displayed in the Alternates column within the Unscheduled Requests section. These course titles are also hyperlinked, allowing users to quickly navigate to the appropriate area to add them to the student's schedule.

See Student Schedule for more information.

FOCUS-48606- Graduation Req. Report: Respect "Affects GPA" Setting in Biliteracy Seal (FL)

This update improves the Biliteracy Seal logic in the Graduation Requirements Report for Florida customers. The calculation for earning four credits in the same foreign language with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher now excludes grades from courses that are not marked as "Affects GPA." This ensures GPA-based criteria only include applicable grades.

FOCUS-48599- Prior Address Not Updating when Address Changed via ReEnrollment Form

This update ensures that changes made to a student's address through a Re-enrollment Form are now correctly recorded in the Prior Address logging fields in Student Info. Previously, address updates submitted by parents via the form were not captured unless updated manually by an admin. The system now logs prior addresses consistently, even when changes occur through unapproved re-enrollment forms.

FOCUS-48565- School Report: Resolve Duplicate School Fields

This update resolves an issue in the School Report where custom School Fields assigned to multiple categories would appear more than once. With this fix, each custom field now displays only once, ensuring cleaner and more accurate reporting.

FOCUS-48546- Resolve Save Settings to Letterhead Template on Report Cards & Transcripts

This update resolves an issue where changes made to certain letterhead template options--such as Test History and Courses in Progress--were not saved correctly when clicking "Save Settings" in Report Cards or Transcripts. These options will now save as expected when enabled or disabled.

FOCUS-48530- Student Final Grades: Auto-Complete Field Display in Final Grades Expanded View

This update resolves a display issue in the expanded view of Final Grades, GPA, and Class Rank. Previously, auto-complete suggestions for select fields appeared behind the expanded view pop-up, making them difficult to access. With this fix, suggestion lists now display properly in front of the expanded interface for improved usability.

FOCUS-48510- Discipline: Improved Visibility & New Hide/Show Option on Referral Details

This update enhances the layout and usability of the Referrals screen. The Referral Details section now expands to the full width of the screen and includes a new toggle to show or hide the section. The user's selection is remembered and applied the next time a referral is opened, improving navigation and user experience.

See Referrals (Admin), Referrals (Teacher), and Referrals (Parent/Student) for more information.

Referrals

FOCUS-48497- Student Info: Resolve School Year Visibility when Future-Year Enrollment is Enabled

This update addresses an issue where, with the "Allow Enrolling in Future Year" system preference enabled, students with an application school year set to the current year would display a read-only School Year field in their future-year enrollment record. This could result in enrollments missing a school year. The dependency on the applicant's school year has been removed, and the School Year field will now display consistently on enrollment records regardless of the selected year.

FOCUS-48482- New Student Schedule: Resolve marking_period_id for Full Year Schedule Records

This update resolves an issue in the new Student Schedule where full-year schedules were incorrectly saving schedules.marking_period_id as a specific marking period ID instead of the expected value of 0. This occurred when a school used a custom short name for the Full Year marking period. A migration is included to correct existing records by updating full-year marking period IDs to 0 for the current school year.

FOCUS-48465- Gradebook: Student View Doesn't Show Exclude from Average

This update resolves an issue in the Gradebook where the "Exclude from Average" checkbox would appear unchecked in the assignment comment popup, even if previously selected. Additionally, re-checking the box would remove the red "Excluded from Grade" message. The system now correctly retains and displays the checkbox state, ensuring consistent behavior between the main grade view and the comment popup.

FOCUS-48439- Rollover: Resolve Duplicate Planning Periods during Rollover

This update resolves an issue where duplicate planning period records could be created during school rollover. A one-time migration removes existing duplicates from prior rollovers, and the rollover process now includes logic to prevent future duplicates by skipping records that have already been rolled over. These changes improve data integrity and prevent redundant entries in the planning_periods table.

FOCUS-48433- Published Report Cards & Transcripts: Resolve Report Card Download Error When No Grades Exist

This update resolves an issue where students and parents encountered a PDF error when attempting to download published report cards that had no grades for the selected marking period. Previously, the system allowed download links to appear even when no grades were available, resulting in an error. With this fix, download links are now hidden when a report card lacks grade data, preventing access to invalid files.

FOCUS-48430- Grade Change Request: Display "Current Gradebook Grade" Enhancement

This enhancement adds a "Current Gradebook Grade" column to both the Request Grade Changes (teacher portal) and Approve Grade Changes (admin portal) screens. For quarter-based terms, this column displays the student's current gradebook grade. If the selected term is an exam, semester, or full grade, the column will remain blank. Additionally, if the "New Grade" does not match the gradebook grade, it will be highlighted in red to help reviewers easily identify discrepancies.

See Request Grades Changes (Teacher) for more details.

FOCUS-48428- Student Schedule: Add 'Update' Button & Effective Date Improvements for Admin Users

This update enhances the new Student Schedule by allowing admin users with view permissions to set the effective date when viewing schedules. Additionally, a new "Update" button has been introduced to apply the selected effective date, improving usability by removing the need to click "Save" to refresh the page.

See Student Schedule for more information.

This update adds a new subject line field to the compose screen for parents and students in the Communication Platform. The CC option remains available only for staff users. This enhancement improves clarity in student and parent communication.

FOCUS-48321- Communication Platform: Translate Positive Behaviors

This update enhances the Communication Platform for customers using Communication Translations. When translations are enabled, Positive Behavior messages shown in the Communication Inbox will now appear in the language of the logged-in user, improving clarity and accessibility for multilingual users.

See Communication > Automatic Translations for more information.

FOCUS-48308- Address & Contacts: New Parent Education Level Field on Student Contact Card

This update introduces a new "Parent Education Level" dropdown to the Student Contact Card. When the system preference "Enable Allow Contact Education Level on Contact Card" is enabled, users with edit permissions can record the education level for student contacts. An additional preference, "Require Contact Education Level on Contact Card with Custody Enabled," enforces entry for custodial contacts.

See System Preferences > Enrollment tab and Student Info > Adding a Contact for more information.

FOCUS-48298- Scheduling: Don't Change Pages When Copying Sections in Master Schedule Builder

This update improves the behavior of the Master Schedule Builder by addressing an issue where copying a section would return users to the first page of the datatable and fail to mark the new section as pending. With this update, copied sections now remain on the current page, and their status is correctly reflected. This ensures a smoother and more consistent workflow when working across multiple pages.

FOCUS-48153- Audit Trail Enhancements: Master Schedule & Enrollment Tracking

This update introduces a major improvement to system auditing with the addition of a new Master Schedule Audit Trail. Located under Setup > Audit Trail, this tool tracks changes to the Course Catalog, Subjects, Courses, and Sections. Access to each tab is controlled via profile permissions and is school-based, showing only data from schools the user is authorized to view. Changes are logged whether made through the interface or directly in the database via Runquery or district reports.

Additionally, enhancements to the Users > Audit Trail (Enrollments tab) now capture enrollment changes made directly in the database. A new Schools column has also been added to improve visibility into where changes occurred.

See Setup > Audit Trail (Schedule), Profiles, and Users > Audit Trail > Enrollment tab  for more information.

The update also addresses a related issue where alerts triggered by custom criteria were not displaying as expected.

FOCUS-47654- Enhanced Printing Options for Progression Plans

This update introduces multiple improvements to the printing of Progression Plans for increased readability and customization. Key enhancements include a simplified first-page header, default font size set to 10, and the addition of the students grade level on the first page. New print options allow users to control the appearance of headers, adjust font sizes for the plan title, option titles, and legend, and center column headings and credit values in the printed layout.

See Print Progression Plans for more information.

Print Progression Plans

FOCUS-47560- Progression Plans Tab Now Accessible from Student Info

This update ensures the Progression Plans tab is accessible from the Student Info screen for all students in grades 6-12, even if a specific progression plan has not been assigned. Students without a plan will now see the applicable graduation requirements instead of a "no plan exists" message. Access to the tab follows standard profile permissions and can be managed through permissions for Grades > Progression Plans.

See Student Info > Viewing Student Information (Admin), Progression Plan (Admin), Student Info > Viewing Student Information (Teacher), Progression Plan (Teacher), Child Info/My Information > Viewing Information (Parent/Student), and Progression Plan (Parent/Student) for more information.

FOCUS-46061- Address & Contacts: Automatic Capitalization of Contact Names When Adding New

This update enhances the process of adding new contacts in Focus by introducing automatic capitalization for first and last names. See Student Info > Adding a Contact for more information.

FOCUS-45656- Performance Optimization for Computed Queries in Logging Fields

This update improves performance when displaying computed values in logging custom fields by shifting from per-record query execution to a more efficient batched approach.

FOCUS-43804- Pull Grades for Report Cards: New "Ignore Effective Date" Option

This update adds a new option to the Pull Grades for Report Cards feature, allowing users to ignore the effective date when pulling grades. This option is only available when the "Do not create grade if a child marking period grade is missing" setting is selected. When the "Ignore Effective Date" option is enabled, grades will be pulled for students even if they were not actively scheduled on the effective date, providing greater flexibility in grade management.
