School Grades Report

Focus provides the School Grades report, which uses school grades and enrollment data collected from the Florida Department of Education.

Please contact Focus Support to enable the Focus Analytics functionality on your site.

Providing Access to the School Grades Report
Users > Profiles

Administrator users who will be providing access to the School Grades report to other users will need View and Edit permissions to Focus Analytics, as well as the Edit permission to Report - Access and Admin - Workspace.

Users who will have access to the School Grades report will need to have the View permission for Focus Analytics.

Users who will view the School Grades Report will also need access permission to that specific report on the Focus Analytics screen.

1. In the Reports menu, click Focus Analytics.

2. Click the FL School Grades report.

3. In the side menu, click Access.

4. In the pop-up window, select the profiles that should have access to the report. One or multiple can be selected in the pull-down.

5. Click Save.

Using the School Grades Report

1. In the Reports menu, click Focus Analytics.

2. Click the FL School Grades report.

3. Some of the dashboards on the report require selections to be made. Make your selections in the pull-downs.

Pages

The tabs at the bottom represent separate dashboards within the report.  Click the arrows to scroll through the available pages.

Hovers

Hover over visuals to display more specific data.

Hover over information icons to display more information regarding the visual.

Filters

The Filters side bar can be used to filter the report.

Click on a filter to modify it.

Basic filtering allows you to select from a list of possible values.

Advanced filtering allows you to create filters using relations, including: is less than, is greater than, contains, does not contain, starts with, does not start with, is, is not, is blank, is not blank, etc.

Advanced filtering on a date element allows you to filter using relations, including: is on, is on or after, is after, etc.

Date filtering also has a special filter type, Relative date, that allows you to filter relative to today’s date.

Click Apply filter after adding or modifying a filter.

Click the eraser icon to clear the filter.

Click the carrot icon to expand or collapse a filter.

Click on a bar or slice on a visual to add a filter for the specific category selected. The other visuals on the dashboard report will react to the filter. For example, clicking the "Not Title 1" slice filters the rest of the Influences dashboard to display data for non-Title 1 schools.

To remove all filters from the page and return to the default state of the report, click the reset arrow icon at the bottom left or top right of the screen.

Visual Headers

The visual header provides more options for the visual. To access the visual header, hover over the visual.

Hover over the filter icon to view all the filters and slicers affecting the visual.

Click the Focus mode icon to maximize the display of the visual into the entire dashboard window.

Click Back to report to go back to the whole report.

Click the ellipse to open a menu with more options for the visual. In this menu, you can export the associated data to an Excel file or a comma separated value file, view the associated data as a table, and adjust the sorting for the visual.

Some visuals contain a hierarchy and allow you to drill down within this hierarchy. If a visual includes a hierarchy, the drill icons, shown below, will appear in the visual header.

The drill down is used to drill down to the next level of the hierarchy. Click the drill down icon.

Next, click a category on the visual to drill down in the hierarchy.

The next level of the hierarchy is displayed. In this example, each individual elementary school is displayed because we clicked on the Elementary category.

Click the drill up icon to return to the previous level of the hierarchy.

Click the double down arrow icon to view the lower level of the hierarchy as categories themselves.

In this example, all of the schools are listed individually with their % total possible points.

Click the expand all drill icon to drill down all categories to the next level of the hierarchy.

In this example, all of the school levels have been broken down into the individual schools that belong to each school level.

Tables

Click a column header in a table to sort the data in ascending or descending order.
